School of Medicine Curriculum Committee
Charge:
To establish the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Medicine, to evaluate the quality and organization of the current curriculum, and to develop and recommend to the Dean of the Medical School strategies for implementing changes in the content, scope, and sequence of courses, selectives, and electives. The committee will make a report of its actions annually to the Assembly.
Subcommittees:
The Course Evaluation Subcommittee will review the student evaluations, student performance, and other outcome measures of all required courses/clerkships/selectives and recommended changes when necessary.

Goals and Objectives for the Educational Program for the M.D. Degree
The goal of the Medical School Curriculum is to provide an educational environment that promotes clinical excellence, scholarship and professional behavior, stimulates self-directed life-long learning and develops the qualities of a compassionate physician.
Before Graduation, students will have demonstrated the following:
- core, knowledge in the sciences basic to the understanding of health and well being, diseases, disease processes and treatment;
- basic skills in clinical assessment including medical interviewing and physical examination in a diverse patient population;
- the application of knowledge and clinical assessment skills for appropriate interpretation of data, clinical judgment and decision making;
- core knowledge of systems of healthcare;
- skills in self-directed learning and critical thinking to foster a commitment to life-long learning;
- behavior that reflects professionalism, humanism and ethical principles;
- interactions that reflect compassion and respect for the privacy, dignity, and diversity of patients and their families;
- interactions that reflect professionalism and respect for colleagues and other members of the healthcare team.
