Tutoring Program
The Office of Academic Enhancement provides tutorial services to freshman and sophomore medical students with the hopes of decreasing the number of students dismissed for academic reasons; repeating the year for academic reasons; or re-mediating a course or courses. Freshmen or sophomore medical students interested in tutoring are asked to contact the Director of Academic Enhancement to request tutoring. Before tutoring is provided, the student will be asked to meet with the Course Director to identify strategies for course success. Following the meeting with the Course Director, students will make individual arrangements to meet with a tutor at a specified time and place and all of the tutoring sessions will be held at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio facilities. A student will be able to participate in the tutoring program until completion of the sophomore year.
Tutors will be second or fourth year medical students who have received an A in the course that they will tutor.
