Welcome to the Medical School Alumni Association’s
The Latin term communitatus from which the English word “community” comes is comprised of “com” which means “together,” “munis” which means “exchanges that link,” and “tatus” which means “small, intimate or local.” The wonder of the internet is that it gives us the opportunity to create a community of those with a common interest even when they live at a distance. My family has a website, where cousins, aunts, uncles, grandfathers and grandmothers, communicate with one another. This capacity has literally created a community out of people who previously had no efficient way of being family. The exchanges “link” us together in an “intimate” way, as if we lived locally.
Through the University Of Texas School Of Medicine at San Antonio (UTSMSA) website, we invite you to rejoin the community of those with whom you trained in medicine and to meet and interact with those who followed, or preceded you at your School of Medicine. We invite you to “get involved,” to participate in the community which exists and to enlarge that community with your contribution. Your school is partly defined by what you have become and you should benefit from what your School has become.
We invite you to revisit your School of Medicine at the Annual Alumni Weekend, which for 2008 is scheduled for October 9-11. We invite you to consider ways to support your school including encouraging worthy students to attend UTSMSA and contributing financially to the future of your school.
We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you in the fall of 2008 and annually thereafter. We invite you to link your current professional experience with your School of Medicine by sharing a link with your practice and/or organization.
Welcome back to Medical School; you will be thrilled with your visit.
