A Message from the School of Medicine Alumni Association President
Let me begin by saying, I would not be where I am today without my experience as a student at the UT Health Science Center. I owe a great deal back to the school because of the opportunities that were afforded me as I was not accepted by other schools.
I have had a fulfilling career and a fabulous life all because of my Health Science Center School of Medicine degree. I feel a great sense of gratitude for my time here and naturally want to pay it forward to the current students by supporting their educational and research programs.
The support from the alumni association helps to fill in the gaps of the students’ education. There simply is no longer enough money in the system to support their experiences as was the case when I was a student.
The alumni association desperately needs more funds to help support more student programs. As your next president, I plan to engage more alumni to join me in the following goals and plans for the next term:
Retain local alumni to become involved;
Establish a local chapter;
Explore the establishment of additional local chapters throughout the U.S.; and
Increase the number of alumni donating to the alumni association.
Serving on the board is great way to connect with other alumni, all of whom are invested in advancing the school and supporting the students. It’s also a lot of fun.
I’ve been a member of the board for 12 years and felt it was time to give more back by serving as your president – if others agreed. They did, and so here I am.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. Please call on me if you have any questions.
