- This Catalog describes selective and elective offerings available for senior medical students as well as policies and procedures for selective and elective choice. It is furnished for information and planning purposes and is subject to modifications, additions, and deletions by departmental chairmen or the Faculty Council.

Office of Academic Enhancement

The primary mission of the Office of Academic Enhancement is to promote the retention and advancement of medical students through their four year curriculum. This mission is primarily accomplished by using the experiences and resources of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio medical student population. The input helps to develop and implement projects with the consumer in mind – the medical student. Currently the Office of Academic Enhancement offers group tutoring programs for medical students, a pre-matriculation program for incoming medical students, a tutoring elective for those interested in academic medicine, a USMLE preparation course and consultation services for study skills, time management issues, and test taking assistance.

HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program
- The Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program provides a year of basic science research at the National Institutes of Health to approximately forty medical students per year.
Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG)
- The Health Science Center's chapter is involved in numerous educational and professional activities geared to medical students. The chapter's website provides news, a listing of coming events, and photos of recent activities.
