Trent Bawcum

Trent Bawcum

Hi everyone my name is Trent Bawcum, I am a fourth year medical student planning to go into either radiology/interventional or anesthesiology. I grew up in Dallas, Texas. (Rowlett) I went to Texas Tech University (Wreck'Em) in Lubbock, Texas and majored in business management with a chem minor. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife Carly and English bulldog Coco, running, Frisbee golf, and pretty much any recreational sport you can think of. I am willing to answer any questions you may have about navigating this thing we call medical school and am looking forward to meeting everyone in the fall!

I’m from Houston, TX and went to undergrad at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, where I majored in Neuroscience and graduated in 2013. I was able to spend an extra year in Memphis after I graduated working in a clinic and coaching soccer before coming back to Texas! I am currently in the MD/MPH program and am planning on going into OBGYN. In my spare time I like to play and watch soccer as much as possible, hanging out with my friends, listening to podcasts, and binge watching TV shows! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I was born in Dallas, Texas raised in Seattle, WA but I've been living in San Antonio for nearly 10 years now and it is my home! I graduated from UTSA and during my time at UTSA I volunteered as a tutor for students in various subjects. This was where my love for mentoring students originated, and I look forward to mentoring medical students.

In my free time I enjoy baking (cheesecakes are my favorite), yoga, reading, cuddling with my 15 year old rat-terrier, and spending time with my husband, who is also a medical student.

This fall I will be applying for anesthesiology as my speciality and I could not be more excited to see the journey of medical school come full circle.

While at UTHSCSA, I have been apart of the Admission’s Recruitment Committee, coached our class’s Powderpuff Cheerleaders, and volunteered for AugustHeart. When I’m not studying or at the hospital, I enjoy baking, fishing, watching Aggie Football and hanging out with friends. Moving forward, I’m interested in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine. I'm excited to help y'all out with whatever you may need this year, so don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Zach Coates

Zach Coates

Hi! My name is Zach Coates and I am originally from Houston Texas. I am a traditional student who majored in Biochemistry at UT Austin and graduated in 2016. My free time is usually filled with running, playing intramural sports, and trying to not get beat too badly in 2k and FIFA. I am a big basketball fan and like to play sometimes on the weekends with a solid med school group. Although I’m not too sure what I want to do when I grow up, I’m hoping to fully enjoy medical school and can’t want to see what the future has in store.
