I grew up in southeast Texas, attended Texas A&M University for undergrad, and moved to San Antonio to go to medical school at UTHSCSA. I completed internal medicine residency and a chief year here, as well, then joined faculty as an internal medicine hospitalist. When I’m not seeing patients and working with residents and students in the hospital, I enjoy facilitating MS1 synthesis and working with the residents’ quality and safety curriculum and their many QI projects.

At home, my husband and I spend the bulk of our time chasing our two little boys, enjoying our big, extended families, hanging at church, and trying to convince our kids that we can’t just eat ice cream for dinner.

Whatsup everyone! I am so excited to work with all of you and want you to feel like you know me already: Despite being a Texas boy, born in Houston, college at TCU (go frogs!), and Medical School here in SA, I LOVE to travel and adventure the world and have huge dreams of using medicine internationally! I am a sports dude and love playing them infinitely more than watching (specifically football, basketball, and volleyball). My faith in Jesus is what fuels me and I love to spend time in community, prayer and worship. I have had a really amazing time in medical school and hope to help lead you to have the same experience!

PS: I'm not married and consider myself spontaneous and devoted to being a resource for you all so please don't hesitate to contact me about any and everything you may need at any time!

Hey guys! I grew up in Fort Worth, TX and spent most of my time playing sports throughout my younger years. I decided to leave Texas for college and attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, I played on the D1 field hockey team for five years, winning one national championship and two ACC championships. During my time off the field, I studied Biology and Spanish for the Medical Professions. Since I spent a 9th semester at UNC playing field hockey, I had the opportunity to work as a barista as well as do a considerable amount of food prep for about 6 months before I came to medical school. I am planing on applying for OB/GYN residency next year. In my free time, I love to try cooking new things and do my best to get to the gym as much as the schedule allows!

WJ Humann

WJ Humann

My name is Walter Humann, but most people call me WJ. I grew up in Dallas, and I graduated from UT Austin in 2013 with a Plan II Major, in which I mainly studied classical European history. I plan to pursue a residency in Otolaryngology after graduation. In my free time, I enjoy watching and attending Longhorns football games, trying out new restaurants, walking around San Antonio and the hill country, and playing video games.

Samantha Miller

Samantha Miller

Hi my name is Samantha Miller, I grew up riding horses and playing soccer in Düsseldorf, Germany before moving to Friendswood, Texas at the start of high school. I graduated in the class of 2013 from Texas A&M (Whoop!) with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Before Medical School I spent 3 months backpacking around Europe with my best friend. I actually received my acceptance letter to UTHSA in Interlaken, Switzerland!

While here at UTHSA I've been involved in the Wilderness Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and now, Veritas!

I enjoy napping with my dog and cat, fostering animals, drinking coffee at one of the bountiful coffee shops around SA and hiking/biking/camping out in nature. I'm excited to be a part of Veritas and give back to the program that gave me such wonderful role models in medical school. I look forward to meeting y'all!

I grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended undergraduate less than ten miles away from home at Southern Methodist University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In my time at SMU, I was a member of a sorority, enjoyed exploring new parts of Dallas with friends, and loved hanging out with my brother and sister who also attended SMU. Pony Up!

I am the oldest of five kids and moving to San Antonio was my first time away from my family, so my first semester was a little rough. However, my friends from UTHSA quickly became like my family and have made San Antonio feel more like home. The people here really are the best! I am still trying to decide ‘what I want to be when I grow up’, but Med-Peds, which is a combination of internal medicine and pediatrics, sounds pretty cool. When I am not at school, I enjoy running, yoga (I am currently mastering my crow), church, eating queso, and relaxing with my friends; I also love advocating for my youngest brother, Alex, who has Down syndrome. He is the light of my life and one of my biggest motivators!

Eric Stutz

Eric Stutz

Hello! My name is Eric Stutz and I am from Denver, Colorado. Well, I grew up in Denver but spent most of my high school years in Phoenix, Arizona. I did my undergrad in Exercise Science and Spanish at Brigham Young University in Utah (so I guess I am pretty familiar with most of the four corner states). I came here to San Antonio just a few months after graduating from college. I love all things sports and enjoy the sunny weather in Texas. I spend a good amount of my free time lifting weights or running with my wife. Any other free time is usually spent catching up on my favorite TV shows on Netflix and Hulu. As far as my future career, I am not sure exactly where I will end up, but I do want to do something that is procedural. I'm an out of state student, so for those of you with questions about that feel free to ask!

Hi all! I was born in Austin, and I grew up in Bastrop 30 minutes down the road. I went to The University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor in Business Administration from McCombs with a concentrating in marketing. After college during my gap year I worked for Central Health and the Comminity Care Collaborative in Austin. My work focused on improving services for the homeless population and developing an integrated system of care in Austin. I aspire to help redesign the healthcare system and ensure that everyone has access to care. I'm not quite sure what I want to practice yet! I'm in the MD/MPH program, as well. Outside of school and career, I have an interest in archeology, and in my spare time I like to hike and enjoy nature with friends. :)
