Dr. Christine Andre

Welcome to Veritas! I am an associate professor of medicine and have been on the School of Medicine faculty for over ten years. My undergraduate years were spent at UT Austin where I received the typical biology pre-med degree. I then spent a year backpacking around the world and another year as a math and science tutor. I too went to medical school here at UTHSCSA. I spent my life thinking I wanted to be a pediatrician but after my clinical rotations, I fell in love with Internal Medicine. I completed my residency and chief resident year at UTHSCSA, and was thrilled to join the Division of Hospital Medicine in 2004. I very much enjoy my job as a hospitalist and the opportunity to work with medical students. I divide my time between clinical care of patients, teaching and mentoring medical students.

My husband Charles is a pulmonary-critical care physician in private practice and we have two daughters, Parker (7) and Sydney (6). I am always searching for that perfect work-life balance but not sure if I will ever get there. I make time to exercise, prepare home-cooked meals and enjoy time with my family. It is my honor and privilege to be involved with Veritas and I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Howdy! I'm Max Cadena and I'm one of the Co-Head MiMs for Veritas 2017-2018. I grew up in Friendswood, TX, went to Clear Brook HS, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. I'll be applying to OB/GYN residencies in the Fall and am interested in patient education and high-risk obstetrics. In my free time, I like to play guitar, workout, and hangout with friends. I volunteer at my church, St. Luke Catholic Church, in the high school youth ministry group and the RCIA program. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about Veritas or any other questions about your journey in medical school!

Hey y'all! So excited to have you joining the UT Health San Antonio family!

I was born and raised in Laredo, TX, but moved deeper in South Texas for undergrad. I received a BS in Biology with a double major in English and a minor in chemistry from the University of Texas Pan-American (as it was known in my day) back in 2014. I started med school right after and will be applying to an Emergency Medicine residency this fall. I have a passion for medical education and know that I will ultimately end up at an academic institution working with medical students and residents.

In my spare time, I deeply enjoy baking and am always looking for new recipes. I watch more TV than I probably should and am a huge Game of Thrones fan. I love spending time with people, whether going dancing, to a museum, catching up over some tacos, anything! I also spend an unhealthy amount of time on Buzzfeed.

Med school can be daunting, but it has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I hope we can make it so for you too. So excited to work with you!

Hi everybody! I was born in southern California then moved to Louisiana and Connecticut, but I spent most of my childhood in The Woodlands. After graduating from The Woodlands High School, I moved to the Peach State to study Biology and Anthropology & Human Biology at Emory University in Atlanta. While there, I was a violist in the orchestra, sang in the choir, gave tours, and was an Advanced EMT and EMS supervisor with Emory EMS. I graduated in May 2014 and became a scribe at a primary care clinic in The Woodlands for a year before coming to UTHSCSA. I am so excited to be here! I am doing the MD/MPH program with the current hope of going into emergency medicine and disaster preparedness and response, but that could always change! In my spare time, I love spending time outside, playing tennis, trying new restaurants, and being with my friends and family.

Hey everyone. My name is Nnamdi and I am originally from East Orange, New Jersey, grew up in East Hanover, New Jersey, and moved to El Paso, Texas before finishing high school. I attended Cornell University for undergrad, where I majored in Biology and minored in Business (and played football). After graduating in 2014, I attended Cornell for a 5th year post-baccalaureate program in Health Studies. After graduating (again) in 2015, I moved to San Antonio a month later, which has been a great experience! I am primarily interested in orthopedics and sports medicine, but who knows, I could be an OB/GYN when it is all said and done. Eventually, I would like to be involved in academic medicine.

In my free time, I love to stay active, where that is at Gold’s Gym or a rare morning run. Also, I love going downtown by the River Walk and attend the occasional Spurs game when I get a chance. Otherwise, playing Super Smash Brothers or Mario Kart has proven successful in my stress management. I look forward to this mentorship experience through Veritas in the years I have left here at UTHSCSA and I am excited to meet you all at the White Coat Ceremony in July!

Hey everyone! My name is Caleb and I've lived in Texas my whole life. I moved around the North Texas area quite a bit growing up, but now call Argyle home. Previously, I attended Baylor University, where I majored in Biology. After graduating in 2015, I spent about 6 months working as a medical assistant for a family practitioner. The experience I gained there has been invaluable in preparing me for clinical encounters. Here at UTHSA, I'm primarily interested in orthopaedics and sports medicine; however, I'm still open to other possibilities.

In my free time, I love to stay active, whether that's getting a lift in at Gold’s Gym or even playing some pickup basketball. I also enjoy getting to play some FIFA every now and then for stress management. Looking forward to this Veritas mentorship experience and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have!

Hey Y’all! Welcome to the Long School of Medicine at UTHSA!

I was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, but have lived in Texas since I was 5 years old. I grew up in The Woodlands, and moved to San Antonio 4 years ago to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I was fortunate enough to be a part of a 7-year BS/MD Dual-degree program. During my time at UTSA I was a UTSA Ambassador, co-founded and danced on Sapna, a Bollywood Dance Team, and explored all the wonderful places to eat here in town.

When I came to medical school, I found myself surrounded by incredibly passionate individuals who have become some of my best friends. I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the MS1 Liaison for the American Medical Women’s Association, and now currently serve as the Chapter President; the other officer's and I just got back from the National Conference in San Francisco! I am also incredibly excited to serve as one of the Head VPAs for this year! UTHSA also has so many opportunities for service. This Spring Break, I traveled to Guatemala on a medical mission trip through our wonderful Humanities and Ethics program. It was a life-changing experience and reminded me why I came to medical school in the first place. And because I just couldn’t shake the dance bug, a classmate of mine and I created an MS1 Bollywood dance for UTHSA’s Annual Culture Show!

My goal is to somehow survive these 4 years, create incredible memories with my classmates, and become a Reproductive Endocrine and Infertility Specialist.

When I’m not spending all my time with a large Chick-fil-a sweet tea in the Library, I like to dance, try out new restaurants, and give my friends a hard time!

I can not wait to see what is in store for you as you begin your own journey here at UTHSA!
