Dr. Jason Morrow

Howdy, Y’All! I’m excited to be a part of Veritas. Let me share a few aspects of my personal and professional identity, first informally and then a little more formally. I was born and raised in Dallas along with my two older brothers—can the Cowboys please get back to the Superbowl? I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for middle and high school. I was a speech & debate and tennis geek. My travels took me to San Antonio for college, Houston and then Galveston for more school, Charlottesville for training, Chapel Hill for my first gig (is it wrong to be a Duke basketball fan?), and then back to San Antonio in 2011 for more gig. My wife I’ve dated since high school, married after college. I’ve got two great teenage kiddos and a smattering of feline, canine, and lapine critters. I love hiking and camping, live music, and Los Spurs. Seriously, I bleed Silver and Black.

Dr. Morrow is Medical Director of Palliative Care Inpatient Consultation at University Health System, as well as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. He is also faculty with the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics and holds the Howard and Betty Halff Professorship in Medical Humanities & Ethics. He graduated with a BS in Biology and a BA in Philosophy from Trinity University here in San Antonio, studied Philosophy for a year at Rice University in Houston, and took his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also received his PhD in Medical Humanities (with a focus on Clinical Ethics). Dr. Morrow completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He then joined the faculty at Duke University where he was an academic Hospitalist and Medical Director for Palliative Care at Duke Regional Hospital. Dr. Morrow is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is the Discipline Coordinator for Ethics and Module Co-Director for Medicine, Behavior, Society in the School of Medicine. Dr. Morrow is active in Ethics and Palliative Medicine education across campus including leadership and teaching roles with students, residents, fellows, and faculty colleagues.

I'm a small town girl who was born in Fargo, North Dakota. I moved to Tennessee in middle school and thought that a class of 100 people was humongous. I went to undergrad at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where I majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology and triple minored in Chemistry, General Music, and Chinese Language & Culture. I took an interim year between undergrad and medical school to volunteer with InterVarsity campus ministries. While in medical school, my favorite activities have been learning about the human body in Anatomy lab, singing in our medical school acapella group Egophony, and traveling two summers to Ethiopia for global health. I am still undecided with what specialty I want to choose, but I am leaning towards primary care because I love continuity of care and developing long-term relationships with my patients. For fun, I love playing my guitar and making amateur youtube music videos. I also enjoy running on the elliptical while watching the Food Network, especially Chopped. Lastly, my go-to comfort food in SATX is a large bowl of chicken pho from Pho Ha Luong; I will gladly take you up on an offer to go there anytime!

I’m originally from Medford Oregon and have loved the adventure of coming to Texas. I went to Brigham Young University and studied neuroscience for my bachelors/masters degrees. I came from graduate school to UT Health San Antonio with my wife and young son. Now we’re a family of four exploring the city and surrounding area. It’s been a blast to get to know and experience San Antonio while studying here. I’m planning to pursue orthopedics and would eventually like to end up back in the West to practice in a community setting. In my free time I’m a full time husband to an amazing and supportive spouse and dad of two wonderful young boys. We love to play outside and explore all the amazing parks San Antonio has to offer. I’d be happy to visit about any questions or concerns you have about your undergraduate medical experience, so please don’t hesitate to email me.

I was born and raised in a small town in south Texas called George West. When I graduated high school, I knew that I wanted something different so I decided to move to Austin where I attended UT. Initially, I was interested in pharmacy school and it wasn't until my junior year that I found that pharmacy wasn't for me. I graduated from undergrad in 2013 with a degree in biochemistry. After undergrad I took a year off to do research at UTSW. During this year I took my MCAT and applied for medical school. These past 3 years have been exciting and challenging. I will be applying for an anesthesiology residency. In my free time I like to play sports. Whether it be basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis.. anything that is competitive. I'm excited for this year and am happy to answer any questions that y'all have!

Hello! My name is Nimi Bhattatiry and I’m from Coppell, which is a little suburb of Dallas, Texas. I was part of the FAME BS/MD program at the University of Texas at San Antonio where I majored in Biology. I am currently a Frontera de Salud leader for Laredo, where we run health service events at border cities in Texas, which has definitely been one of my favorite experiences here at UTHSA. I’m still not sure what specialty I’m interested in quite yet, but I hope to figure out soon.

In my free time I love being a cheesy tourist in whatever city I’m in or just being outdoors. Also, I really enjoy random trivia (Jeopardy, anyone?) and corny jokes, so any and all are welcome. I’m looking forward to being your VPA! Congrats again, and can’t wait to meet y’all!

I am from Houston, TX and the oldest of three kids. I went to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX for undergrad, receiving degrees in Biology and Chemistry. I graduated a semester early in December 2015 and had 6 months off to work and relax before starting medical school. I’m very interested in OB/GYN at the moment but I'm also keeping an open mind! When I’m not studying, I like to read, watch TV/movies and hang out with friends. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to be your VPA and I can’t wait to meet y’all!
