Welcome to the admissions website of the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio. I am very pleased to provide information concerning the admissions process and updates on this year's application cycle. An outstanding group of students has been selected into the 2012 entry class of 220 including 50% men/women and 23% underrepresented minority students. The average age of the class is 23. The grade point average of the accepted class is 3.65 and the average MCAT is 31. These numbers only partially reflect the outstanding quality of our students as many of them have distinguished themselves through personal achievements both during and after their university studies. We have finalized the selection of alternates to our acceptance list and will be drawing from the alternate pool up to the start of classes in late July.
For those of you who have been accepted, the website http://som.uthscsa.edu/Admissions/now-what.asp contains information regarding Welcome Weekend (April 13-14), submission of transcripts and immunizations and will be regularly updated. Orientation week will start on Monday July 23rd with classes starting Monday, July 30th. Important information regarding financial aid is available athttp://studentservices.uthscsa.edu/financialAid.aspx. Also, We look forward to again welcoming the full class to the White Coat Ceremony on Sunday July 22, 2012. Each year this event is attended by over 1,400 students, family and friends and is a wonderful start to your journey to become a physician.
