Dean James J. Young Research Day Award

 

Purpose

 

 

 

The School of Medicine Alumni Association established the Dean James J. Young Research Day Award to recognize the most outstanding research project and poster presented each year by a medical student.

Criteria

Any medical student who has completed an approved research project under the supervision of a faculty member.

 

Nomination Materials and Instructions

Nominees must submit a research poster including the following elements:

  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions
  • References
  • Visuals

The annual deadline for submission will be in April each year at the Research Poster Fair.

 

Selection

A panel of distinguished faculty and administrators will select the recipient of this award based on the scientific soundness of its materials and methodology, the scientific significance of its results and conclusions, and the overall quality of the poster’s presentation.

 

Note: Award selections will take into consideration nominees’ financial need.

 

Timeline

Final selection will be made on Research Poster Day in April and the award will be presented that afternoon.

 

Award

The 1st-4th place winners are awarded with a framed certificate and cash prizes:.
  • 1st Place: $1,000

  • 2nd Place: $600

  • 3rd Place: $300

  • 4th Place: $100

Additional 1st - 4th place winners are awarded to residents and fellows with a framed certificate and cash prizes:

  • 1st Place: $1,000

  • 2nd Place: $600

  • 3rd Place: $300

  • 4th Place: $100
