Campus tours, class dinners, CME credits, a karaoke contest, athletic competitions between classes, and lots of networking opportunities. Reunion Weekend 2009 will feature all this and much more!
The School of Medicine Alumni Association invites you to attend Reunion Weekend 2009, October 15-17 in San Antonio, Texas. We welcome all School of Medicine alumni and their families to attend the weekend’s events. The following classes will be celebrating noteworthy anniversaries this year:

The Alumni Relations Office is currently identifying Class Agents for a number of classes (in particular for the Classes of 1974, 1979, and 2004) to assist in planning and promoting the event. Thursday, October 15
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm FREE Event
“Happy Rounds” Reception ~ Westin La Cantera Resort and Hotel – San Gabriel Room (Dress: Casual)
Start off the weekend with the “Happy Rounds” reception at a resort hotel. All alumni are invited! Spouses and guests are welcome! We will have an open bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Friday, October 16
8:00 am - 10:15 am FREE Event
Welcome Breakfast and “State of the School” Update ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Academic and Administration Building
Acting Dean Glen Halff, members of his leadership team, and students will present an update on the School of Medicine, covering such topics as admissions, student services, curriculum, research, and campus enhancements. Breakfast begins at 8 am and runs throughout the morning, with the formal presentation beginning at 9 am.

Campus Tour ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Meet in the Academic and Administration Building
A lot has changed around campus since you were in school, and you won't want to miss out on this behind-the-scenes tour. The tour will include the new Medical Arts and Research Center, the Cancer Therapy and Research Center and the HEB Clinical Skills Center.

Alumni Luncheon and Student Awards Presentation ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute
Student Research Poster Exhibit - Alumni Sponsored Student Awards
Alumni and their families, faculty, staff, and student award recipients are invited. The Alumni Association will give the Merit Awards for MSI, MSII, and MSIII students, as well as the Forland Essay Award and Student Research Award.

Alumni Reception and Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony ~ Westin La Cantera Resort and Hotel – San Antonio Ballroom
Reception will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 pm with string quartet, followed by the Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony from 6:30 – 7:00 pm. Hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine will be served.

Alumni Dinner ~ Westin La Cantera Resort and Hotel – San Antonio Ballroom
Following the reception and award ceremony, dinner will be served. All alumni and their guests are welcome. Reunion-year classes will have class dinners.

CME Symposium and Welcome Breakfast ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Academic and Administration Building
Acting Dean Dr. Glen Halff and Alumni Association President Dr. James L. Holly will welcome alumni for the CME Symposium. A breakfast buffet will be available throughout the morning.

CME Presentation #1: Societal Expectations and Politics in Medicine
Pedro Delgado, M.D., Diehlman Distinguished Chair in Psychiatry at UTHSCSA School of Medicine, will present.

CME Presentation #2: Managing the Business Aspects of Medicine
Thomas Mayes, M.D., M.B.A., Chair of Pediatrics at UTHSCSA School of Medicine and president and chief executive officer of UT Medicine San Antonio, will present.

CME Session #3: Ethics ($10)
Ruth Berggren, M.D., director of UTHSCSA’s Center for Medical Humanities and Ethics, will present.

Alumni Lunch ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Parman Foyer
This will be a buffet lunch featuring a big screen television for those alumni who want to watch the Texas-OU football game.
2:00 pm – 4:30 pm FREE Event
Alumni Athletic Competitions and Family-Friendly Activities ~ UTHSCSA Recreational Fields
Alumni teams will compete against each other and student teams in a number of sports, including beach volleyball and softball. We will also have family-friendly activities for children, including kite flying, badminton, soccer, and horseshoes.

Campus Tour ~ UTHSCSA Campus – meet in the Academic and Administration Building
We will repeat the tour on Saturday afternoon for alumni who didn’t get to go on the tour on Friday. A lot has changed around campus since you were in school, and you won't want to miss out on this behind-the-scenes tour. Saturday Evening - Option A: Family-Friendly Alumni Cookout ~ UTHSCSA Campus – Walkway by Parman Auditorium
This will be a casual cookout to help alumni relax and unwind from the day’s events. Beer and wine will be served.
6:00 pm – 11:00 pm Dutch Treat
Saturday Evening - Option B: Riverwalk Retreat for Reunion-Year Classes
Complimentary shuttle buses will transport reunion-year alumni from the Westin La Cantera to the Riverwalk for dinner and fun. The Alumni Relations Office will work with reunion-year class agents in advance to schedule reservations at Riverwalk restaurants, as necessary. Buses will depart hotel at 6 pm and 6:30 pm and return to the hotel at 10 pm and 11 pm.
