Faculty Promotion, Tenure & Appointment Committee (PTAC)


The abbreviation 'PTAC' stands for the Faculty Promotion, Tenure & Appointments Committee, but it is used to mean everything related to faculty promotion, tenure and initial appointment review, or to the PTAC Committee itself. Institutional PTAC oversight is provided by the Vice President of the Office for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs (VPAFSA), Dr. Jacqueline L. Mok., 210-567-2004.

PROCESS: The PTAC preparation and approval process at the SOM starts with the faculty member working together with the Department PTAC and for large departments, the Division PTAC. Faculty packet preparation for final institutional PTAC review moves from the department level to the SOM Office of the Dean, first stopping for review by the Office of Faculty Life.
