UTHSCSA MD/PhD program provides a nurturing environment where students can receive mentorship in any clinical area of their choice. Aside from their mentor during graduate school, students receive mentorship during their research years from physicians in any area of interest. Therefore, as the student is working towards completing their PhD, they are able to convene with their clinical mentor.
Aside from the clinical and research mentors, students can also receive guidance for grant writing from an array of scientists and students in the F Troop. The F Troop was designed to give students the direction and support needed to brainstorm, write, and submit a NIH F30 NRSA grant during their research rotation or graduate school years.
Our program deeply believes in the AAMC Compact Between Biomedical Graduate Students and their Research Advisors (2008).
